Sheryl Cameron
Owner, Sheryl Cameron Fashion Consulting
Sheryl Cameron is a fashion leader and innovator.
She brings fresh inspiration, a unique perspective and solid business strategies to the fashion consulting services she provides for women's apparel boutiques, manufacturers and designers. She blends her inimitable insight and ideas with her fashion trend reports, retail and merchandising advice and fashion industry connections to help clients create distinctive offerings and increase their profits.
As a former executive in buying and merchandising, Sheryl spent more than 20 years as a major player at Fortune 500 companies including Nordstrom (for whom she opened 22 stores), Dillard’s, the TJX Company (the company that owns T.J. Maxx, Marshall’s and many other brands) and luxury retailer St. John Knits.
Her proven track record of improving the bottom-line objectives, merchandising strategies, product assortments, financial plans, inventory management and much more is rooted in her devotion to fashion. "I love the details of fashion, down to the stitching, buttons, embellishments, the texture and the weaves. New styles are born every season, and to me it's a form of art. Like many forms of art, fashion influences us as individuals and as a society," says Sheryl.
Sheryl appreciates the extravagance and whimsy of runway fashion and she helps translate them for her manufacturer clients. She discovers new items while traveling for fashion shows and market weeks and brings ideas to her boutique clients who can incorporate them to make their shops destinations. With contacts throughout the fashion industry, Sheryl also acts as a "showroom matchmaker," connecting manufacturers with the right showrooms to reach their target market and increase sales.
With a keen eye and a creative approach to business, Sheryl is able to live her passion through her work. "My intrigue with fashion and design showed up at an early age," says Sheryl. "When I was a child I would cut pieces of fabric left over from my mother’s sewing projects and pin them around my Barbie dolls." She worked in retail fashion boutiques during high school and college and obtained her formal fashion training from the Fashion Merchandising Institute of Nevada in Las Vegas. She also attended a Mount San Antonio College’s Fashion Consulting Program in Walnut, California.
Sheryl lives in Southern California. She loves traveling to Italy and New York and takes inspiration from nature’s many colors and textures.
